Warm Christian

WHAT’S HAPPENING?
At the meeting of
CTSN church reps in September, we considered various options for a “CTSN
project” as an active expression of concern, involvement and service to the
area and people of South Norwood. A
number of ideas were suggested:
· a combined ministry to local families;
· a united response to the abuse of public
spaces (e.g. united action against ‘tom carding’ in phone boxes);
· united environmental action to tackle the
problem of graffiti and/or litter;
· a fairly-traded goods stall in Sainsbury’s;
· bag-packing and singing of carols in
Sainsbury’s;
· an organised distribution of the film
‘Jesus’ videos to local homes;
· an ‘evangelistic’ ministry of prayer to
local homes.
We decided to make
a start by exploring a united environmental response to some local problems of
graffiti and litter. We want to try and
show a practical Christian care for our community which is sometimes so little
in evidence. Our next CTSN meeting of
church reps will hear from a Croydon Council leader to help us in our thinking
and doing!
This will take
place at St Luke’s C of E, Woodside on Sunday 2nd December at
6pm. Come and join us!
Once again, CTSN
are sponsoring and supporting a Christmas Day luncheon which will be served to
those who would otherwise be on their own at Christmas. Posters and lists have been circulated to
churches to encourage your awareness and response. Please check these for further details. Volunteers are needed to help in all kinds of ways, especially
drivers, servers and musicians. A
meeting for volunteers will be held at South Norwood URC (Enmore Road) on
Wednesday 28 November from 7.30pm. Your
help and support would be greatly appreciated.
